In the determined effort, KK Sandra Patriot stopped the timer in :15.474, earning a 96 speed index.
Nestor Duran piloted KK Sandra Patriot to the game win. Luis Vivanco had ridden her in the trial but opted for the fastest qualifier Ultimo Alex in the featured event.
“I was in Oklahoma riding trials at Remington Park,” Duran shared. “But I ride for the owners and Adrian, so I had worked her and knew she was a nice filly.”
Owned by Ruse Ranch LLC and bred in Louisiana by KK Horse Racing, KK Sandra Patriot earned the $157,476 winner’s share of the purse, which increased her cumulative bankroll to $158,676.
“She was in good shape coming home after the trials,” said Huitron. “Wasn’t tired and stayed on her feed. I think she wanted to do it for her mom, who won the race several years ago (she also won from the four hole). The breeders knew what they were doing.”
Huitron related that his charge is paid into both the Lassie and Lee Berwick Futurities at Delta Downs, but will wait and see how she comes out of her Futurity score before commit- ting to her next target.
Jess Dash Fast (Heza Fast Dash- Eyejesslovelouisiana), with Jorge Garcia aboard, just missed for owner Juan Montoya and trainer Levi Mays. The filly, bred in Louisiana by Jumonville Farms/Burnett Ranch, finished second in her trial with the 7th-fastest qualify- ing time and picked up the $59,491 runner-up’s share of the lucrative purse.
Ultimo Alex crossed the finish line in third but was disqualified for drifting in sharply and placed 10th.
Goat followed that one across the wire, but was also disqualified for interference and placed 9th.
As a result, Put Me In Coach (Cartels Cartel-Allizoom) was promoted to third. Jesse Levario piloted the gelding for owner Lorena Morales and trainer Juan Carrillo Jr. Bred in Louisiana by Shortstop Racing, Put Me In Coach won his trial heat by 1 1/4-lengths.
La Jetn Cartel (Jet Black Patriot-La Dona Cartel), BF Bosslady (BF Farm Boss- Sweetness Special), TF Jess Me (One Sweet Jess-Miss Mallard Too), Gamefaceprize (Fast Prize Dash-Baby This Girls Game), Guidrys Credit Card (Apollitical Blood- Guidrys Boodie Doo), Goat (Open Me A Corona-Blazin La Jolla) and Ultimo Alex (Inseparable-Cindys First CD) completed the order of finish.
