Matt and Bendi Dunn are having a spectacular year with their outstanding geldings Apollitical Pence and Whizkey
Glasses. But it was their filly, Political Rose, who gave them their first win in an All American race when she captured the All American Oaks-G1 on Sept. 4.
The weekend began with Apollitical Pence’s comeback after some time off in the 250-yard Labor Day Weekend Stakes on Sept. 3. He smashed the track record of :12.903 with a clocking of :12.732.
“He blew us out of the water—we didn’t expect a track record,” said Bendi.
Bigger things lay ahead the next day
in the All American Oaks. Political Rose was riding a four-race win streak, being undefeated in 2022, and bettors backed her down to 13-10 favoritism.
