LETHAL AVENGER

While he didn’t quite run to his name, which is good news for his nine van- quished rivals, Lethal Avenger recorded the first stakes win of his young career with a determined score in the $252,162 La Fiesta Futurity at The Downs at Albuquerque on Sept. 19.
With his regular rider Noe Garcia Jr. aboard, Lethal Avenger bumped and broke out at the start of the 400-yard test, but still man- aged to take command. He dueled through the early stages with Runaway Witch and jockey Emilio Tapia before edging away from that rival in the late stages.
With no other rivals taking up the chase, Lethal Avenger crossed the finish 1/2-length ahead of Runaway Witch, stopping the timer in :19.657. The final clocking earned Lethal Avenger a 92 speed index.
