Docs Dusty Cartel, campaigned by Dusty Rose Ranch LLC, earned his third graded stakes victory in the $194,504 Oklahoma
Horsemen’s Association Mystery Futurity-RG2 for state-bred juveniles at Will Rogers Downs on Sept. 26.
The 7-5 favorite in the full field of ten, Docs Dusty Cartel defeated 16-1 longshot B Leaving by a neck in :17.813. Rolando Raudales rode the colt for trainer

Docs Dusty Cartel set the seventh-fastest Mystery Futurity qualifying time with his second-place finish, a neck behind sixth-fastest qualifier Im A Fancee Chick, in the fourth of eight trials on Sept. 11. A homebred,
the colt is out of Docs Dusty Dale, winning homebred and a finalist in the 2014 Speedhorse Futurity-G3.
Alberta Bred Futurity-RG3
Docs Dusty Cartel’s second dam, the win- ning Bully Bullion mare Cinna Bul, earned $45,288 from 38 outs while racing for Dusty Rose Ranch from 2002-2005.
Campaigned exclusively in Oklahoma, Docs Dusty Cartel has won five of seven starts, and the $78,302 winner’s share of the $194,504 OHA Mystery Futurity purse pushed the colt’s bankroll to $220,798.
Earlier this season, Docs Dusty Cartel began his career with a eighth-place Oklahoma Futurity trial finish. After his debut, he assembled a four- race win streak that included a victory FL Lady Bug Stakes-RG3 for Oklahoma- bred two year olds at Remington Park, and a win in the Speedhorse Futurity-G3.
B Leaving (Valiant Hero-Jess B Mighty) earned $35,711 for his runner-up
effort, bringing his earnings to $49,997 from seven outs for his owner, The Estate of Homer A. Hill. Ruben Castro rode the homebred geld- ing for trainer Eddie D. Willis.
Fifth-fastest qualifier Rate Me A Lady (High Rate Of Return-This Lady Zooms) ran third, 1 1/4 lengths behind Docs Dusty Cartel, while banking $23,641 for her owner, Jo Rice. Edwin Escobedo rode the homebred stakes- winning filly for trainer Jason Olmstead.
Im A Fancee Chik (Im A Fancy Pyc-Dixie Marrone) & Nash Ridge (Jess Good Candy- Made To Dash) deadheated for 4th, followed by Magnanni (Ivory James-Zumbaya), Fancy Man Kan (Pyc Paint Your Wagon-First
Prize Fancy), Tres Elegance (Tres Seis-Ja Jess Elegance), Chuggin Corona (Hez Our Secret- Royal Stiletto), and Suzy De Capi (Capo De Capi-Shaken Pappasito).
Wave Burner (Wave Carver-First Prize Sass) ran third, a 1/2-length behind Destello De Luna. Silvino Morales rode the gray gelding for owner Jeffrey R.W. Rath and trainer Wesley Oulton.
Bringontherush (Wave Carver-SLS Dashin Corona) finished fourth and the remaining finish was Bearcat Bill (First Timber-Flashy Mamacita), Obsessed Bug (Obsessed With Corona-Paulina Bug), Top Shelf 109 (Special Fly Bye-See Me Do It Too), First Golden Rose (First Timber-Madam Goldilocks) and A Verygood Moonshine (Six Packa Moonshine- Tammy Timber). First Authority scratched.
The Alberta Bred Futurity has been contested every year since 1987; Leech has prepped the winner a stakes-record 14 times. Past winners include Canadian Champions Royal Quick Wind (2001) and Eyesa Timber (2020).

DESTELLO DE LUNA

Second-fastest qualifier Destello De Luna rallied to win the $52,397 Alberta Bred Futurity-RG3 at the Century Mile Racetrack near Edmonton on Sept. 19.
Prepped by William Leech for owners Jane Leech and Haley Moreno, Destello De Luna went 350 yards in :18.167, and his margin of victory was a short nose.
Ricardo Moreno rode the brown gelded son of Lethal N First.
Destello De Luna was coming off of a 1/2-length victory in the last of 3 Alberta Bred Futurity trials on Sept. 4.
The gelding was bred in Alberta by Ken McFarlane, out of winner A Mere Toast, she has produced 100% winners from two starters. His second dam, the winning Dash Ta Fame mare A Mere Fame, was a finalist in the 2005 La Primera del Ano Derby-G2.
Destello De Luna traces back to her third dam, Amira, a winning Beduino TB mare and a finalist in the QHBC Far West Classic Futurity.
Raced exclusively in Alberta, Destello De Luna has now won two of his six starts, and the $23,579 winner’s share of the purse from his first stakes score pushed his earnings to $37,479.
The gelding’s resume includes a second- place finish in the $21,696
Alberta Sales Futurity at Evergreen Park on Aug. 21, and a third-place run in the $45,826 Alberta Stallion Futurity at Century Mile on July 2.
Runner-up O First Sweet Heart (First Timber-Eyesa Perry) banked the $8,907 runner-up share of the purse for owner Jeffrey R.W. Rath. Larris Allen rode the bay filly for trainer Wesley Oulton.
