pollitical Daizies wins the $439,991 All
American Oaks.
Trained by Martin Orona Sr., Apollitical
Daizies had qualified the fastest for the Oaks, albeit at boxcar prices.
Whistle Stop Cafe broke on top, but Apollitical Daizies, with
Mario Delgado aboard,
immediately took the lead at
first call.
The two fillies battled
each other for the entire 440 yards. The World Champion never gave up, but Apollitical Daizies refused to let her by. Apollitical Daizies won by 1-length in :21.051.
Apollitical Daizies fin- ished her two-year-old season
by breaking her maiden at Zia Park. She didn’t win another race until her Oaks trial due to several hard-luck trips. The worst may have come in her Rainbow Oaks trial, the first time Delgado rode her. On the rail, she was forced in so badly that she ended up last.
JGA Racing Stables Inc. bred Apollitical Daizies in Oklahoma from Grade 1-placed Pushing Dazies. Apollitical Daizies is one of
two winners in six starters for the mare, who is a half-sister to Champion Jess You And
I and Graded stakes winner Dog Daze Afternoon.
In the All American Oaks final, Tanner Thedford rode Whistle Stop Cafe (Freighttrain B-Sinuous), who is trained by Trey Wood and owned by Whitmire Ranch. Last year’s World Champion takes a record
of four stakes victories,
including the 2020 All American Futurity-G1, into retirement.
HR Princess Jess (Apollitical Jess-HR Ebony Princess), owned by Larry Rice, trained by Eddie D. Willis, and ridden by Jimmy Brooks, finished third. A qualifier for last year’s All American Futurity, HR Princess
Jess ran third in this year’s Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Derby-G2.
Hollyn Bootie (Big Daddy Cartel-Datona Doll) and Miss Famous Eagle (One Famous Eagle-Ms Southern Dynasty) finished fourth and fifth. Valiant Stars (Valiant Hero-Cluster Of Stars TB) and La Jaconde (Favorite Cartel-Jess And Molly) dead-headed for
sixth, followed by Jess Lyndes Reason (Good Reason SA-Jess Send Me) and In My Heart (Apollitical Jess-Heartbeat). Charcoal Broiler was scratched.
