The photo on page 211 shows Heartswideopen in the winner’s circle with her connections after winning the 2007 All American Futurity-G1.
She went into the finals having won 5 of her
last 6 outs, including her All American trial by
1 1/4-lengths as the fastest qualifier. In the $1.9 million finals, Heartswideopen beat out SF Royal Bank and Captain Courage, who went on to stand at 6666 Ranch and sire 18 blacktype horses earn- ing $6,001,164.
After getting away from the gate slow, Hearts- wideopen drifted in then found her stride and du- eled her way across the finish line a neck in front, earning a 101 speed index and the $1,000,000 winner’s share for owner Javier Rodriguez, trainer Carl Draper, and jockey Oscar Hernandez. After the All American Futurity, she rested to take on
the mountain for her derby campaign, in which she did not disappoint. Heartswideopen as a 3 year old won the Ruidoso Derby-G1 and Rainbow Derby-G1 and placed second in the All American Derby-G1 by just a neck. In 2007 Heartswideopen was the High Money Earning Horse and a 2-time Champion, and in 2008 she was also honored as
a 2-time Champion. This 4-time Grade 1 winner was bred by Kirk Goodfellow of Dreams Come True Ranch in Nacogdoches, Texas, out of AQHA Dam of Distinction Dashing Phoebe, dam of 15 winners from 18 starters with $2,372,415 progeny earnings including Champion Special Phoebe and Grade 3 winners Furyofthewind and Dashing- fordestiny.
