Hair Sampling for Quarter Horses that have been presented in the Select Yearling Sale and that participate in the restricted futurities and derbies at the Hipodromo de las Americas.
The XXXVII Select Yearling Sale is scheduled to take place from Oct. 12-14,
and the Mexican Association of Breeders and Horsemen of Quarter Horses, A.C., established the following:
CONDITIONS OF NOMINATION AND REGISTRATION
The Mexican Association of Breeders and Horsemen of Quarter Horses, A.C. (AMCM) in coordination with the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) establishes that
a hair test with a negative result will be required as a condition to register for the trials of the following futurities: Garañones, Subasta Selecta, Mexican Breeders Challenge and Mexican Breeders of 2022, and the derbies: Mexico, Garañones, Subasta Selecta, Mexican Breeders Challenge and Mexican Breeders of 2023.
This new condition of nomination and registration to these futurities and derbies
is with the aim of promoting the safety and well-being of horses, avoiding the potential risks resulting from the use of prohibited substances, as well as providing the highest level of integrity and deterring any dishonest practice. This will ensure to owners and the betting public that horses do not compete with an advantage when using performance- enhancing substances.
The analysis of the hair sample shall detect prohibited substances, including but not lim- ited to: clenbuterol, blood doping agents, zil- paterol, ractopamine, animal poisons, growth hormones, anabolic steroids and other drugs or substances that do not have a level permitted in the jurisdiction where such races are held.
A horse with a positive result in the hair test to any of the substances described above will not be eligible to register in the trials of the futurities and derbies mentioned, and the fees paid by the owner will not be refunded.
The collection of hair samples will be endorsed by the American Quarter Horse Association, will be carried out by persons designated by the AMCM and its analysis will be carried out by a laboratory in the United States. The results will be reported to the AQHA Racing Department Office, which will send notification of eligible and ineligible horses to the AMCM. The samples will be taken between 30 and 40 days before the tri- als, on the date, time and place determined by the AMCM.
The cost of the hair test will be $250.00 US dollars and is non-refundable and is addi- tional to any other fee. In order for the hair sample to be collected, it must be paid, as well as all eligibility fees, without exception. The hair test is a condition for registration and in case of being positive does not imply sanction, for which it does not admit any appeal.
If any horse nominated for the futurities or derbies changes owners at any time, the new owner must sign in accordance with the rules set forth herein, in order to remain eligible. No horse will be allowed to register for a trial of the aforementioned futurities and derbies unless the results have been received in both the AQHA and the AMCM and meet all the above specifications.
If a horse is positive for the hair test, it does not imply any kind of sanction to the trainer or the specimen, it is only a condition to register and participate in the trials and does not replace any other anti-doping control.

la Subasta Selecta de Añales y que participen en los futuritys y derbys restringidos para ellos en el Hipódromo de Las Américas.
En el libro de la XXXVII Subasta Selecta
de Añales Cuarto de Milla Nacidos en 2020 programada a efectuarse del 12 al 14 de octubre de 2021, la Asociación Mexicana de Criadores y Caballistas de Caballos Cuarto de Milla, A. C., estableció por primera vez las siguientes:
CONDICIONES DE NOMINACIÓN E INSCRIPCIÓN
La Asociación Mexicana de Criadores y Caballistas de Caballos Cuarto de Milla, A.C. (AMCM) en coordinación con la American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) establece que se requerirá una prueba de pelo con resul- tado negativo, como condición para inscribir a las eliminatorias de los siguientes Futuritys: Garañones, Subasta Selecta, Desafío Crianza Mexicana y Criadores Mexicanos a partir de 2022, y a los Derbys: México, Garañones, Subasta Selecta, Desafío Crianza Mexicana y Criadores Mexicanos, a partir de 2023.
Esta nueva condición de nominación e
inscripción a estos futuritys y derbys es con el objetivo de promover la seguridad y bienestar de los caballos, evitando los potenciales riesgos que resultan del uso de sustancias prohibidas, así como proporcionar el nivel más alto de integridad y disuadir cualquier práctica deshonesta. Esto garantizará a propietarios y público apostador que los caballos no compi- tan con ventaja al usar sustancias que mejoran el rendimiento.
En el análisis a la muestra de pelo se detec- tarán sustancias prohibidas que incluyen, pero no limitadas a: clembuterol, agentes de dopaje sanguíneo, zilpaterol, ractopamina, venenos animales, hormonas del crecimiento, esteroi- des anabólicos y otras drogas o sustancias que no tienen un nivel permitido en la jurisdicción donde se realizan tales carreras.
Un caballo con resultado positivo en la prueba de pelo a cualquiera de las sustancias descritas anteriormente, no será elegible para inscribirlo en las eliminatorias de los futuritys y derbys mencionados, y no se reembolsarán las cuotas pagadas por el propietario.
La recolección de muestras de pelo estará avalada por la American Quarter Horse Association, la llevará a cabo personas desig- nadas por la AMCM y su análisis lo realizará un laboratorio de los Estados Unidos. Los resultados se reportarán a la Oficina del Departamento de Carreras de la AQHA, la cual enviará la notificación de caballos elegi- bles y no elegibles a la AMCM. Las muestras se tomarán entre 30 y 40 días antes de las eliminatorias, en la fecha, horario y lugar que determine la AMCM.
El costo de la prueba de pelo será de $250.00 US dólares, no es reembolsable y es adicional a cualquier otra cuota. Para que se pueda colectar la muestra de pelo, debe estar pagada, así como la totalidad de las cuotas de elegibilidad sin excepción. La prueba de pelo es una condición para inscripción y en caso de resultar positiva no implica sanción, por lo cual no admite apelación alguna.
Si algún caballo nominado a los futuritiys o derbys cambia de propietario en cualquier momento, el nuevo dueño debe firmar de conformidad las reglas que aquí se exponen, para continuar siendo elegible.
A ningún caballo le será permitido inscribirse a una eliminatoria de los futuritys y derbys mencionados, a menos que los resul- tados hayan sido recibidos tanto en la AQHA como en la AMCM y cumplan con todas las especificaciones anteriores.
Si un caballo resulta positivo a la prueba de pelo, no implica ninguna clase de san- ción al entrenador o al ejemplar, solamente es condición para inscribir y participar en las eliminatorias y no sustituye ningún otro control antidopaje.
