   Beautiful Prairie Stakes
BPS JUMPIN FRISCO
by Michael Compton
Bill Price’s homebred BPS Jumpin Frisco is relish- ing his sojourn to South Florida. Winner of the Tallahassee Stakes under David Pinon on Dec. 30,
the 4-year-old son of Jumpn returned to annex the Beautiful Prairie Stakes at Hialeah Park on Jan. 20 for his second consecutive stakes score.
Piloted this time around by Troy Crissup, BPS Jumpin Frisco took the early lead in the 250-yard dash and held on to win by a neck. BPS Jumpin Frisco stopped the timer in :13.119 and earned a speed index of 101 for trainer Brian Muse.
“He’s a real nice horse,” said Crissup. “He’s got a lot of class. I’ve been on him in the mornings. This was my first opportunity to ride him in the after- noon and it paid off.”
A winner in six of 18 career starts, BPS Jumpin Frisco, with the first-place prize of $13,275, has amassed earnings of $379,191. His dam, Frisco Fling, is a significant producer. Winless in her racing career, Frisco Fling has also produced Grade 1 win- ner and track record setter A Real Man, and graded stakes winner A Cartel Fling, as well as numerous stakes-placed runners. Her offspring have earned more than $1 million on the racetrack.
Owned by M & D Racing Inc. and saddled by Yoani Abreu, runner-up Hesa Winner (Stoli-Apollos Winner) just missed under Gerrardo Garrido. 22-1 longshot Logans Dash (Toast To Dash-Logans Game), who races for M and G Farms and is trained by Edgar Gamez, closed well for third under Sergio Ramirez.
Following were CC Last Warrior (Special Red Warrior-Watching Angel), Speed Smith (Prime Talent-Speedy Empress), Conquistadorable B (Valiant Hero-She Travels), Mr Sippin Corona (Corona Cartel- Jesses Royal Dash), Call Me Easy Money (Captain Marvelous-Dances So Easy), Dashing Coverage(Royal Quick Dash-Special Corage), and Mucho Fuego (Walk Thru Fire-Corona Mas Fina).
Cypress Handicap
FOLS JESSE
by Tracy Gantz
Fols Jesse loves Les Bois Park and Los Alamitos, the two tracks where he has made 11 of his 12 lifetime starts. After finishing first or second in six of his seven
starts at Les Bois, Fols Jesse traveled to California, where he has won three races, including two stakes. In his most recent victory, the Jan. 20 Cypress Handicap, Fols Jesse demolished the field by 1 1/4
lengths as the 3-1 favorite. Under regular rider Joel Cruz, he started brilliantly and led throughout, prompting announcer Ed Burgart to correctly predict “he’s going to crush them here.” Fols Jesse romped home in :17.506 for the 350 yards.
Mark Skeen trains Fols Jesse for Bob Feilner’s Mesa Valley Farms LLC. The 4-year-old gelding won the 2012 Kip Didericksen Handicap and finished third in the Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap at Los Alamitos. Fols Jesse also ran second in two Idaho stakes.
Feilner, who lives in Utah and Arizona, bred Fols Jesse in New Mexico from winner Sheza Jet Dash. Fols Jesse is the mare’s first foal and first starter. The Feilners have had the family for three generations, and Feilner bred and raced the second dam, winner Shesa Jet Breeze.
Wayne Barton’s Lotta Love For Robyn (First Down Dash-Lova Ya Miss Jess) finished third and was moved up to second upon the disqualification of original second-place finisher Rush Of Fire. Cody Jensen rode the filly for trainer Joe Bassett.
A second disqualification of fourth-place finisher Attack The Cartel moved Pony Drive (Hawkinson- Streakit Special) into third. Mike Casselman trains the two-time winner for owner-breeder Steve Burns, and Francisco Rubio was aboard.
Following were Hit It Big (Walk Thru Fire- Chickasis), Consider (Corona Cartel-First Regards), Steller (Stel Corona-Inthetwinkleofaneye), Rush Of Fire (Walk Thru Fire-Paula Teller), and Attack The Cartel (Corona Cartel-Separate Tac).
Barbara B Handicap
FREQUENTFLYER
by Tracy Gantz
When owner Felix Gonzalez claimed 2-year-
old Frequentflyer out of his first start for $12,500, it might not have initially looked like a shrewd claim. Frequentflyer finished next-to-last in that 2011 race, but since then he has repaid Gonzalez every penny of that claiming price and more. The gelding raised his earnings to $35,477 when he became a stakes winner by capturing the Jan. 13 Barbara B Handicap at Los Alamitos.
Favored at 6-5 and drawn on the rail, Frequentflyer nearly blew his chances a stride out of the gate when he brushed with Properly Snowbound to his outside. The incident put Frequentflyer off
his best stride. Jockey Cruz Mendez got him back together, and about midway through the 550 yards, Frequentflyer began gaining ground. He gamely col- lared the leaders to win by a half-length in :27.100.
Jose Moreno trains Frequentflyer, who won two claiming races at Los Alamitos in late 2012. Just before the end of the year, the gelding made his stakes debut, finishing fourth in the Paul Ford Handicap on a wet-fast track.
Mimi Wells bred Frequentflyer by crossing her homebred winning mare Flyagra with Bono Jazz. Flyagra has produced six winners from seven starters, including stakes winners Fly Thru Fire and Fly Me High.
Shes Prime Time (Hawkinson-Sweet Beduino), second in the Paul Ford, finished second again in the Barbara B ridden by Cody Jensen. Lin Melton trains the 4-year-old filly for Abigail Kawananakoa.
Jose Luis Martinez’s Perfect Place (City Place- TB-Corona Perfection) ran third for jockey Rodrigo Aceves. Jesse Godinez now trains him.
Completing the field were Impassion Queen (Snowbound TB-Queen Of Appeals), Storm Feet (Make It Anywhere-Special Copauino), Snow Buddy (Snowbound TB-Female First), and Properly Snowbound (Snowbound TB-Properly).
