RELENTLESSSCORPION

Justine Klaiber rode Relentless Scorpion to a 1/2-length victory in the $68,000 Laico Bird Stakes-RG3 for Oklahoma-bred 2 year olds at Remington Park on April 16.
Racing for the Norman, Oklahoma-based Wishbone Partnership headed by Michael Vaughan, Relentless Scorpion covered 330 yards in :16.863 while aided by a reported 12-mph tail wind. Eddie Willis prepped the sorrel daughter of the One Famous Eagle stallion Hes Relentless, who earned $37,800 from her first stakes win.
Relentless Scorpion broke her maiden with a clear 2-length victory in a Remington Park Futurity-RG1 trial on April 1. All told, the filly has won two of three outs and has banked $49,766.
Relentless Scorpion was bred by Jahree Standridge. The sorrel filly is out of Pollitical Scorpion, a stakes- winning homebred 9-year-old daughter of World Champion Apollitical Jess, who also ran third in the 2015 Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Futurity-RG3 at Will Rogers Downs.
Ivory Senator (Louisiana Senator-Ivory Teaspoon) ran second while pocketing $12,600
for owner Louis A. Malechek III. Juan Pulido rode the homebred brown gelding for trainer Santos Carrizales Jr. Vencedora Jess (Apollitical Jess-Belle Of The Cartel), the 5-2 favorite in the full field
of 10, finished third, a nose behind Ivory Senator. James Flores rode the homebred sorrel filly for owner Josefina Guzman and trainer Santos Carrizales Jr. Followed by RGs Gold Wagon (Prized Wagon-JA Gols Debutante), JC Black Mamba (Ivory James- Fine Clover), Southern Seis (Tres Seis-Southern Miss), Okie Candy Man (One Fabulous Eagle- Eyema Candy Tree), Kiki Kartel (Coronado Cartel-MT Rob This Corona), Candy Jewel (Jess Good Candy-Made To Dash), and Hey Soul Sistr (PYC First Fancy Lee-Arctic Winter).

Agustin Silva rode Charlies Fury to a wire- to-wire victory in the 350-yard $68,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes-RG2 for Oklahoma-breds at Remington Park on March 31.

and Kathleen McNally of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and sent to post as the 5-2 second choice in the field of six, Charlies Fury defeated odds-on favorite JC Wild King by a neck in :17.478. The homebred 6-year-old Furyofthewind gelding banked the $40,200 winner’s share of the $68,000 purse.
Charlies Fury was stretching out in distance
off of a third-place finish, a neck behind winner JC Wild King, in the 250-yard Mighty Deck Three Stakes-RG2 for Oklahoma-breds on March 4.
Raced in three states, including New Mexico and Iowa, Charlies Fury has won 11 of 27 outs
-- including seven of 16 at Remington Park -- and the winner’s share of the purse from his fifth career stakes score pushed his bankroll to $405,801. His two graded stakes wins include last year’s 300-yard $50,000 Bob Moore Memorial Stakes-G2.
The gelding is out of Jess Charlena, a winning homebred daughter of Take Off Jess.
JC Wild King (Apollitical Jess-Oh Cherokee Rose) earned $13,400 for his owner Jose Cervantes, who also bred the sorrel 4-year-old gelding. James Flores rode JC Wild King for trainer Santos Carrizales Jr.
Brenda Reiswig’s My Midnight Candy (Jess Good Candy-Midnight Sunlight) finished third, 1/2-length behind Charlies Fury. Edwin Escobedo rode the homebred 4-year-old gelding for trainer Jason Olmstead.
Juice Is Loose (One Famous Eagle-Miss Southern DD) ran fourth and was followed by Willie McBride (Apollitical Blood-Shanachee) and HRR Dreamer (High Rate Of Return-Ally Kazaam).

JESS MY HOCKS

Jess My Hocks comes by his nickname of “Bull” honestly, trainer Michelle Hurdle saying that “he’s a big boy and we’re proud of him.” The connections were particularly proud on April 3 when Jess My Hocks won the $67,881 Bank of America Remington Park Challenge Championship-G2. With Rodrigo Vallejo in the irons, Jess My Hocks went off as the 3-10 favorite and drew the outside post. He broke well and on the lead, drifting in a bit throughout the 440 yards before scoring wire-to-wire by a 1/2-length in :21.729.
Hurdle trains Jess My Hocks for owners Tom and Kathleen McNally, who bred him in Oklahoma. The 5-year-old gelding has now won four stakes, including the 2020 Will Rogers Downs Derby Challenge and Adequan Derby Challenge Championship-G3.
Tom McNally bought Charlenas Cleat, Jess My Hocks’ second dam, and he and Kathleen bred and raced winner Jess Charlena, the dam of Jess My Hocks. Jess Charlena has produced three winners from four starters, including multiple stakes winner Charlies Fury and stakes-placed Charlenas Relentless.
Francisco Calderon rode Big Eagle Gone (One Fabulous Eagle-And Poof Shes Gone) to second
for owner Rachuan Suarez MVZ and trainer John Stinebaugh. Big Eagle Gone won his final two starts last year, and this was his 2022 debut.
Apocalyptical Jess (Apollitical Jess-Cassandra Crest), owned by Bill Robbins, trained by Trey Wood, and ridden by Tanner Thedford, ran third. The 6-year-old gelding is a multiple graded stakes winner and was the Champion 3 Year Old and Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding of 2019.
Completing the field were Fyre Wall (Walk Thru Fire-Lady Jessie Dee), His Time To Deal (Dealagame-Lady Lilia), CR Appollitical Joe (Apollitical Jess-LW Evening Lajolla), and Wieburg (Ivory James-Hollie Jollie).
