Canada Cup Derby
BEARCAT BILL

Bearcat Bill got his second stakes victory in the $25,284 Canada Cup Derby, a 400-yard stakes hosted at Century Mile on Oct. 28.

aboard broke late from the 10-post. They hit their stride after the mid-stretch and coasted to a neck victory, stopping the timer at :20.239. The gelding earned a 97 speed index and the $11,387 winner’s share, which ups his lifetime earnings to $47,184.
His race record stands at three wins out of 14 career starts. It seems he has found new life with a new rider, Armando Andrade. The duo have won two out of the last four, including the Alberta Bred Derby on Sept. 11 and they also placed second in the Century Mile Horsemen’s Derby on Sept. 23.
His team includes owners Barry and Janice Sather and trainer Misael Moreno. Bred in Alberta Canada
by Barry and Janice Sather, the gelding is out of the winning and stakes placed mare Splashy Mamacita.
In 2017 she placed 2nd in the Evergreen Park Distaff Challenge and the AQHA Aged Stakes. She also placed third in the 2016 Northlands Park Bonus Stakes. She has produced three foals, Bearcat Bill is her only starter.
Wave Burner (Wave Carver-First Prize Sass) had a great start and was able to hold on for second place. He is owned by Jeffery Rath and trained by Wes Oulton. Daniel Garcia was in the irons.
First Golden Rose (First Timber-Madam Goldilocks) overcame a traffic jam at the break and placed third for owner Isask Fehr and trainer Misael Moreno. Alexander Marti was handling the reins.
The remaining order of finish was She Wears The Pantz (Seperate Interest-Skinny Jeans), Interes Fino (Seperate Interest-Corona Mas Fina), Top Shelf 109 (Special Fly Bye-See Me Do It Too), Smokin Ziva (Ivory Grips-Ziva The Diva), Firecrunch (Volcom- Sables Val), Firelicious (Walk Thru Fire-Zoomilicious), Valiant Stevie B (Stevie B First Cash-Valiant Sister).
