Races And Aces Stakes
ONE FAST CAJUN

One Fast Cajun made a second consecutive stakes victory in the running of the $35,000 Races And Aces Stakes hosted by Evangeline Downs on Oct. 29.
One Fast Cajun broke from the 1-post and jockey Ubaldo Luna used it to their advantage. They saved ground and were a 1/2-length in front around the turn. At the top of the stretch they were 2-lengths in front and Ubaldo put his whip away. They coasted to a 4-length wire-to-wire victory, dominating this bunch. They stopped the timer at 45.173 to earn a 104 speed index. The gelding also earned the $21,000 winner’s share of the purse and now has lifetime earnings of $99,210.
His race record stands at five wins out of 14 career starts, including the Faubourg St. John Stakes in his previous out. He also placed second in the Virgil Bond Stakes and third in the Live Oaks Stakes earlier this year.
His team includes owners Norman and Darrin Ladner, Shane Ladner is in charge of the training. Bred in Louisiana by Gabriel L. Terry, he is out of the winning mare Cajun Rocket TB. The mare has produced all winners from both of her starters.
Sarahs Patriot (Game Patriot-Sarahsintomischief TB) ran a gritty race to finish second. The filly is owned by Gilbert Matthews and trained by Philip Calais Jr. Rider Jarred Journet was in the irons.
Lafitte (Sir Runaway Dash-Me And Me Only) placed third under jockey Arturo Alvarez. He is owned by Luis Armando Castellanos and trained by Guillermo Martinez.
Completing the remaining order of finish
was Louie B Quick (Brimmerton-Louisiana Lace TB), Jess Louisiana Boo (Jess Louisiana Blue-La Boo Con), Lolas Lil Ed (Divide The Cash-Loretta Loretta), Midnight Biscuit (Game Patriot-Biscuit Eater TB), Ponookies Fast Cash (Ajs Fast Dash- Streakin For Da Cash).

LAKE HAVASU

Lake Havasu, the second-fastest qualifier and trial winner, went one better in the main event, turning back nine rivals to win the $73,650 AQRA
Turf Paradise Futurity on Dec. 8.
With Omar Iturralde in the saddle, Lake Havasu
grabbed the lead at the start. The gelding never looked back and led at every call enroute and defeated The Rev Rocker by 1-length in the 350-yard test. Lake Havasu stopped the timer in :17.636, earning a speed index of 98 in the impressive effort. The $36,825 winner’s share of the purse increased his bankroll to $100,414.
Owned and trained by Osman Iturralde, Lake Havasu got the first initial stakes win of his career.
He improved his overall record to 8-4-1-1. He placed second in the West Texas Juvenile Stakes on April 3 and placed third in the La Fiesta Futurity on Sept. 25.
Bred in California by Steve Burns DVM, Lake Havasu is out of the winning and stakes placed mare No Arizona, who placed second in the 2014 Governor’s Cup Futurity-RG2 and earned $66,610 during her racing career. She has produced five winners from her seven starters.
Stakes winner The Rev Rocker (A Revenant- Mitey Moon), finished second under jockey Jesus Canales. He is owned by LG Racing LLC and trained by Juvencio Canales.
Fastest qualifier One Wild Cartel (Five Bar Cartel-Wild N Fast), finished a head behind the runner-up in third under jockey Mark Jasso. One Wild Cartel is campaigned by Kevin Vazquez and is trained by Ernesto Gonzalez.
Parker Dam (Separate Interest-No Arizona), Dangerous Fella (Foose-Dangerous Woman), Gemologist (Jess a Chicks-Pops Lil Princess), Mr Snootie Cartel (Mr Ease Cartel-Snootie Socialite), Baby I Du (Duponte-Lil Baby Eagle), Bubba Lew (Big Lew- Rootn Tootn Cowgirl) and One Fabulous Dog (Dog Daze Afternoon-Pops Lil Princess) followed.

This makes three wins in a row for Wildroses101 since Ricardo Saldana has taken over the training. His latest was the $30,000 Wayne Brasher Memorial hosted by Turf Paradise on Nov. 19.
Wildroses101 broke from the 7-post under jockey Martin Osuna. They had a generic break, then Osuna went to work. With a lot of effort, they were able to get a head in front at the midway point. Wildroses101 kept bearing down and they crossed the finish line a head to the good. They stopped
the timer at :15.508 to earn a 97 speed index. The gelding also earned the $17,670 winner’s share of the purse, which ups his lifetime bankroll to $84,139.
His race record stands at six wins out of 22 career starts. In his two previous outs, he won the Curtis/Kiekhefer Memorial Stakes and the La Gran Espectacular Stakes.
His team includes owner Ferrari Racing Stables and of course trainer Ricardo Saldana. Bred in Texas by Bryon Gardner, Wildroses101 is out of the winning dam Weeds In My Roses. She has produced two winners from three starters.
Turbulent Kisses (Turbulent Times-Kisses Calientes) had the lead for a few jumps, and he battled to a second place finish. Connections include owner Francisco J Ayon and trainer Heraclio Botello. Aaron Belloc was in the irons.
Old School Icon (Texas Icon-Cozie Fire) placed third under jockey Raul Valenzuela. He is owned by Martha F. Wells and trained by Matthew M. Fales.
Rounding out the field were Valentin JQM (Separatist-Corona Perfection), Fastrak Required (Walk Thru Fire-No Tools Required), Thru My Eyes (Fly Thru The Fire-Dawn Of A New Day), First Lady Perry (Mr Jess Perry-First Lady Amber), PCR Flashin The Cash (Five Bar Cartel-Classy Sassy Anna), The Kids A Cowboy (Separate Interest-Kiddy Up Cowgirl), Gangster Americano (Corona Cartel-Matabari).
