The photo on page 206 shows Lady Juno (Master Hand TB-Juno Reward, Jet Deck) winning the
1980 Champion of Champions-G1. With legendary connections all in the AQHA Hall of Fame, the 1976 mare won the $200,000 race under Jerry Nicodemus for owner Blane Schvaneveldt and trainer Ivan Ashment.
Bred by Alan Turken, Lady Juno began her career on the track at two years of age and raced
until the age of five, winning nine of her 21
starts and earning $270,313. In addition to the Champion of Champions-G1, she also won the Las Damas Handicap, Peninsula Championship, Lassie Handicap, Sophomore Handicap, St Nicholas Express Handicap Div. 1, HQHRA Inaugural Handicap and Bluestem Downs Spring Derby where she set a New Track Record.
After her success on the track, Lady Juno went on to produce 16 foals, 15 starters, 10 winners and 13 ROM earners.
This year’s $750,000 Champion of Champions-G1 was won by Empressum. The gelding was trained by Heath Taylor and ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo for owners/breeders Jeff D. Jones and
Steve A. Holt.
   Bogart
A leading second year sire in 2022, Bogart (Corona Cartel-Jess Genuine, Mr Jess Perry) will stand the 2023 season at La Feliz Montana Ranch, his owner, in Hondo, New Mexico. His fee has been set
at $2,500. Bogart earned $110,373 with three wins from 15 starts and was third in the James Isaac Hobbs Stakes-G2 and a finalist in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1 and Lovington Stakes-G2. Bogart is the sire of three stakes winners and earnings over $691,000 with average earnings per starter
of $26,590. His top money earner is One Perfect Lady with $272,782 with wins in the 2022 Dash For Cash Futurity-G2 and Ruidoso Downs Juvenile Challenge-G3.
Inseperable
Leading sire Inseperable (Separatist-A Delightful Legacy, First Down Dash) will stand the 2023 season at Bob Moore Farms in Norman, Oklahoma. His fee has been set at $1,750. Owned by Bryton Dewald, 2-time Champion Inseperable earned $672,756 winning the All American Derby-G1 and Rainbow Derby-G1. From 10 crops to race, the 2006 bay stallion is the sire of over $5.2 million and 28 blacktype earners. His top money earners is Gold Digging Ashley with $355,195 and wins in the Southwest Juvenile Championship-G1, Sooner State Stakes-RG1, OHA Mystery Futurity, and Mr Master Bug Handicap, with a New Track Record at Will Rogers Downs for 300-yards.
Five Bar Cartel
Leading sire Five Bar Cartel (Corona Cartel-Five Bar Molly, Dash Ta Fame) will stand the 2023 season at Tate Farms in Ville Platte, Louisiana. His fee has been set at $4,500. Owned by San Gregorio Racing Stables Inc., Champion Five Bar Cartel earned $1,068,825 winning the Ed Burke Million Futurity-G1. From 5 crops to race, the 2011 chestnut stallion is the sire of over $7.1 million with 43 blacktype earners and $21,558 average earnings per starter, with over $2 million in 2022 earners. His top money earners is Amending The Bar with $227,866 and a win in the LQHBA Sale Futurity-RG1.
   Muddy Watters
Second crop sire Muddy Watters si 90 (Corona Cartel-Runaway Wave, Runaway Winner) will stand the 2023 season at RGV Equine Services Rio Rico Ranch in Mercedes, Texas, for a fee of $3,000. Muddy Watters earned $94,844 winning 3 races and he was a finalist in the Rainbow Futurity-G1, Southwest Juvenile Championship-G1 and Mr Jess Perry Stakes. Owned by Sunset Well Service Inc., the 2014 gray stallion is the sire of 7 winners and multiple Graded stakes qualifiers from 10 starters with over $230,000 in earnings, including top earner Muddys Misfit si 96 (2022, $54,003) who was a finalist in the 2022 Leon Bard Memorial. Muddy Watters is a half-brother to World Champion Wave Carver and 3-Time Champion Ocean Runaway.
