MESSAGE FROM THE RESEARCH DIRECTOR
The 2018-2019 academic year was another stellar year for the Queen’s University Department of Ophthalmology. The Department was again ranked among the top departments in the Queen’s University Faculty of Health Sciences in research productivity.
Our department continues to build strong ties with collaborators in other departments and in other universities, further expanding our impact and reach. Our human resources expansion plan has been well-received by senior leadership within the Faculty of Health Sciences and, and as a key component of that plan, we have made strides toward establishing a new Clinician Scientist position within our department.
As part of our strategic plan we have further developed research themes within our department and have been highly successful in promoting intra-departmental mentoring, and collaborations that have provided important synergies and productivity. Our research capacity has also been expanded through the growth of our research support sta and new research examination space.
A result of tremendous e orts from many people, we are building the foundational infrastructure for ongoing growth of our research enterprise. We have already seen this bearing fruit in our continuing success in research publications, policy reports, and grant competitions. Congratulations to all and best wishes for another great year ahead!
Dr Robert Campbell
