Gallbladder Sludge
• Sludge or viscid bile, within the gallbladder is most often associated with biliary stasis.
• Sludge may be found in patients who have coexisting gallstones or gallbladder carcinoma, and in those suffering from jaundice, liver disease, hyperalimentation, or sepsis.
• Also, patients who have been fasting may have sludge.
• Sludge is typically asymptomatic.
