               GALLBLADDER PATHOLOGY
              HYDROPIC GALLBLADDER
▪ Hydropic gallbladder occurs when the cystic duct is blocked, and the gallbladder becomes enlarged measuring greater than 5 cm in diameter.
– Patients may be asymptomatic or complain of epigastric pain, nausea, and/or vomiting.
– An enlarged gallbladder is often palpable on physical exam.
▪ Courvoisier’s gallbladder describes the clinical detection of an enlarged, palpable gallbladder caused by a pancreatic head mass.
– Patients with Courvoisier’s gallbladder will also have painless jaundice.
