“DIOS ES NUESTRO AMPARO Y FORTALEZA”
("God is our refuge and strength") ~ psalm 46:1
Thousands of people make the
migrant journey through Mexico and
are very vulnerable throughout the
process. ELCA AMMPARO companion
churches and non-profits provide
humanitarian assistance to migrants
at the Guatemala/Mexico border,
where they are often stranded for
months at a time in Mexican towns
while they petition for asylum. In
Mexico City, AMMPARO partners
support individuals and families as
they decide their next steps. Persons
who return after being denied asylum
are served by AMMPARO and its
partners in programs that make their
economic survival possible.
“Through relationships with churches in Central America and existing ministries in the U.S.,
AMMPARO is well-positioned to help ensure that children are protected and that
root causes of migration are addressed.”
