Sam Houston Juvenile
RARE B
by Danny Camp
It only took Rare B 16.772 seconds to run 330yards in the $73,165 Sam Houston Juvenile Stakes. He would have liked to be in the futurity finals, but he
made the best of his situation.
Rare B stepped away from the 3-post on top
and took command. Under Luis Vivanco, they were 1-length in front at the halfway point and were able to hold on for a neck victory. Including the first place check worth $21,950, the sorrel gelded son of FDD Dynasty has a total bankroll worth $31.250. His race record stands at two wins out of three races. His team includes owner Jose R Espinosa and trainer Jose Lopez.
Bielau Oaks bred Rare B out of lightly raced Never Say Never B, a half-sister to Terrific Energy, who won the Mildred N Vessels Memorial-G1 and Charger Bar Handicap-G1. Never Say Never has produced two winners from three starters.
Cali Chrome (Moonin The Eagle-The California Girl) and jockey Victor Urieta Jr. were second for owner Almada Racing and trainer Juan Diaz Jr. His only other start was a first place finish in his May 7 Sam Houston Futurity trial.
RC Relentless Grace (Hes Relentless-Le Mishka) was in a dead heat for 3rd place. Owned by TYKHE Racing LLC and trained by Juan Diaz Jr., jockey Manuel Guterrez was in the saddle. The filly finished 2nd in her Sam Houston Futurity trial.
The other part of the 3rd place dead heat was No Secret Knockout (No Secrets Here-Adolph Tres Knockout), who is owned by Five Puig Racing LLC and trained by Juan Diaz Jr. Jorge Garcia was in the irons.
Kuhl Muddy (Muddy Watters-All I Ever Wanted) completed the order of finish.

Open Me A Corona Stakes-RG2
APOLLITICAL B SNOW
by Michael Compton
Sent off as the second longest shot in the field
of seven in the $50,000 Open Me A Corona Stakes-RG2 at Delta Downs on May 11, Apollitical B Snow sprang the upset, leading from start to finish to win the 350-yard test as much the best.
Ridden by Everardo Rodriguez, Apollitical B Snow flashed high speed away from the starting gate to take command at the break. He quickly darted a length clear of the field and maintained a daylight lead through to the wire despite drifting out a bit. He crossed the finish 1 1/4-lengths ahead of runner-up Tuckers Prize and jockey Ubaldo Luna, stopping the timer in :17.225 over the sealed, fast track. The final clocking earned a 101 speed index for the 15-1 shot. It was the first stakes win for Apollitical B
Snow, who is owned by Christopher A. Villatoro
and trained by Rosendo Valdez Jr. The $30,000 winner’s share of the purse increased his bankroll to $78,658 and the win improved his overall record to 15-4-2-1. Bred in Louisiana by Glinden Leger Estate, Apollitical B Snow is produced from the This Snow Is Royal mare Mary Snow.
Tuckers Prize (Fast Prize Dash-BB Secrets Game), at odds of 12-1, completed the longshot exacta. The Graded stakes winner is owned and trained by Preston Jourdan. Ought To Go Tee
(Tee Cos-VF Ought To Go Max) and jockey Luis Vivanco dueled throughout and held third for owner Jose Oviedo and trainer Fernando Lopez. The 3-year-old gelding, winner of the 2020 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile, was taking on older horses for the first time in his career.
Lifeinthefastlanes (Jess Louisiana Blue- Pantherinthefastlane), Fabulously Black (Game Patriot-Fabulously Fast), Jess U R Blue (Jess Louisiana Blue-U R Blue) and Love The Way You Fly (Furyofthewind-Lovethewayyoulie) completed the order of finish. Featuring Fast Jess was scratched.
