La Plata Stakes
MIAS IRISH DYNASTY
by Michael Cusortelli
Making his first start since Aug. 23, Mias Irish Dynasty outran his 41-1 odds to win the $35,900 La Plata Stakes at SunRay Park on May 2.
Mias Irish Dynasty defeated 4-1 second choice Putinical by a neck in :19.362 and recorded a 110 speed index while aided by a reported 17-mph tail wind. Jimmy Ray Coates rode the 6-year-old son of Jr Dynasty Mountain for owner and trainer Felipe B. Rivera Sr.
Mias Irish Dynasty was bred in Utah by Walter L.J. Finder. The gelding is out of winner Mias Runnin, who ran second in the 2011 Bitterroot and Elko County derbies.
Mias Irish Dynasty returned an $84.80 win mutuel as the longest shot in the full field of 10 aged runners. Raced in three states, including Wyoming and Utah, Mias Irish Dynasty has won three of 12 outs, and the $21,540 winner’s share of the La Plata Stakes purse bumped his bankroll to $44,896.
Putinical (Apollitical Jess-Kgb Agent Anna) earned $7,180 for his owner, Pedro Carrillo. Hector Aldrete rode the 7-year-old gelding for trainer Beatriz Sanchez-Carrillo.

PROUDMOVINRENEGADE
by John Moorehouse
Proud Movin Renegade entered the company of multiple stakes winners, taking first place in the $41,514 Adequan Weber Downs Derby
Challenge on May 1.
The gelding looked like a top contender head-
ing into this race; he won his trial and logged the quickest qualifying time of :19.881 for the 400- yards - which was good for a 106 speed index - on April 18. The gelding was just shy of the current track record of :19.880, which set in 1994, when he ran his trial.
In the stakes final, Proud Movin Renegade covered the distance in :19.887, earning another 106 speed index clocking.
Breaking well in second from the 8-gate,
Proud Movin Renegade made a steady push for the lead, seizing the advantage by a neck as he reached the top of the stretch. The gap widened from there, with the sorrel gelding hitting the wire with a 1/2-length margin of victory.
Riley Moosman trains Proud Movin Renegade, who had Jesus Valenzuela in the irons in both the trials and finals.
The gelding is also a 2020 stakes winner, as he earned black type with a victory in last year’s run- ning of the Bitterroot Futurity-G3, also placing second in last October’s Wild West Futurity-G1. Proud Movin Renegade is currently a top money earner of 2021.
Home-bred by XG Bar Racing LLC, Proud Movin Renegade was foaled out of Proud Moon Bug, a 2006 mare also owned by XG Bar Racing. The unraced mare has produced five foals—all starters, two of them stakes winners. The other in the brood is Maknproudmoves, a full-brother to Proud Movin Renegade who won the 2016 run- ning of the Dixie Downs Futurity.
Fortunes Wild Blood (Apollitical Blood- Cartels Fortune) finished in second for owners Kelly& Kyle Cook. The Jay Pitcher trainee had Nakia Ramirez aboard. Jesus Canales rode Echo Of Thunder (Turbulent Times-BF Memory Lane) to third for owner/trainer Lazaro Mendoza.
They were followed by SB Holly Wood (Hes Relentless-Bundle Doe), Cady Shack Creek (Maknmoves-Echo Creek Canyon), Fighting Mad (Hes Relentless-Cowgirl Runaway), Skyywalker (Fly Chisholm Fly-La Jackye), Jr Hiway 93 (One Fabulous Eagle-Prissy B Panther) and Coronas Walk (Walk Thru Fire-Coronas Eagle).
