n February 2020, Ambassador Esti Andayani and Deputy Chief of Mission George Lantu delivered pre-
sentations to Italian and international students about Indonesia and Public Diplomacy of Indonesia.
IThese lectures and presentation of the Indonesian Embassy to the young generation have contributed to
strengthening Indonesian diplomacy in youth and educational field.
“Indonesian Public Diplomacy” Lecture for Students of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore
On February 5 , 2020, Ambassador Esti Andayani delivered a presentation on “Indonesian Public Diplo-

macy” for 20 students of Master Program in International in Cultural Diplomacy from Università Cattolica
del Sacro Cuore, Rome. Ambassador Andayani shared experiences on Indonesia’s best
practices, programs and strategies in the field of public diplomacy especially in cultural
and digital diplomacy as a form of soft power diplomacy.
Ambassador Andayani presented that Indonesia is a big country which always main-
tains local wisdom, national motto of Unity in Diversity and promotes the cooperation Indonesia’s
through dialogue and tolerance. As the third largest democracy in the world, Indo-
nesia’s strengths include moderate Islamic society, as well as pluralistic and tolerant
society. Indonesia has also experienced a stable and progressive economic growth. All Diplomacy
of these forces contributed to the achievement of Indonesia’s diplomacy.
Prof. Federica Olivares, Director of the Master Program in Cultural Diplomacy ex- for
pressed her appreciation for the opportunity to get to know Indonesia more deeply,

Milos, an international student from Serbia stated that the lecture given by the Indo-
nesian Ambassador was very useful for the students’ future studies and careers. The
presentation given is also an amazing opportunity to learn about a rich culture. Mean-
while Marieta, an international student from Georgia said that the presentation of In-
donesian public diplomacy was very interesting and prompted the students to visit and
promote Indonesia. The Cultural Diplomacy Master Program of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore trains
students for careers as professionals in the public and private sectors in international relations, international
branding strategies, arts and culture.
“Upclose and Personal: Indonesia”
Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), George Lantu delivered a lecture on “Upclose and Personal: Indonesia”
for 70 High School students of Liceo Landi on February 19, 2020. DCM George Lantu explained especially
Indonesia’s active role in the regional and global for a including ASEAN, the UN Security Council, FAO,
IFAD, WFP and other multilateral body; overview of cooperation between Indonesia and Italy; strength of
Indonesia’s diplomacy and tourism in Indonesia.
After the presentation, DCM George Lantu also interviewed by the high school magazine regarding Indone-
sia-Italy cooperation and the life of diplomats in Italy. The students are very enthusiastic to participate in the
presentation and many of them popped out curious interesting questions the philosophy of the Indonesian
flag, social life, as well as arts and cultural festivals in Indonesia.
Liceo Landi High School will participate in program United Nations Global Action Model United Nations
(GAMUN) in collaboration with Global Action Italy Association. During the GAMUN Program, the Italian
High School students will act as Indonesian delegates in international organizations including the UN Secu-
rity Council, the UN Human Rights Council, WHO, UNEP and WFP. GAMUN was previously scheduled on
May 2020 but was then postponed until end year 2020 due to corona virus outbreak.
