as ‘Bridal Crown’ which can make a beautiful
statement with 2 inch wide cream and white
petals surrounding a double heart of orange
yellow petals, plus a sweet fragrance for the
garden or as a cut flower. The double early
mid-spring tulips that can make a statement
in the landscape include ‘Foxtrot’, which
displays various shades of pink from pale to
bright, ‘Brownie’ which brings fragrance along
with double flowering gold and orange
        petals, and ‘Monte Carlo’ with
        fragrance and dark golden
        double petals.

        Mid-spring brings even
        more daffodils with
        color and fragrance.
        ‘Mount Hood’ is one
        of the best all white
        daffodils with pure
        white petals and
        creamy white frilled
        trumpet and blooms
        early enough to keep the
colors pure. ‘Pistachio’ blends many colors
to create this lovely trumpet daffodil with
light yellow and hints of green petals and a
cream white trumpet that carries a soft yellow
frilled rim. A bright large cup daffodil ‘Accent’ has
been around for over 50 years and is still gracing the
landscape with bright white petals and a large apricot
salmon cup. ‘Pink Charm’ also has bright white petals
with wide cups edged with frilled apricot pink color.
‘Double Star’ is a large flowering double with pure white
petals and golden yellow mixed with pure white center
petals and a wonderful fragrance. Miniature daffodils can
be a wonderful addition to many gardens including the
smaller gardens, and ‘Minnow’ fits the bill with multiple
blooms arranged as a bouquet on top of each stem with
bright white petals, sunny yellow cups, growing only 8
inches tall. Tulips that bloom in mid spring still have time
to grow their foliage before the temperatures rise too high
and the Darwin hybrids are still considered the best to
plant as perennials. Some of the colorful varieties include
‘Apledoorn’ which is a bright cherry red with a black heart,
