RVers Continue Perfecting their Favorite Meats in 2021
This is actually the third story we've done featuring folks from around the country who travel full time in RVs and others who travel several months out of the year — many of them "nice Yankees" who like the weather here on the GA- FL line. This is a Barbecue Love Story that began as a child for Jerry Aplin of Dumas, TX. His Mama and Grandma were teaching him all about spices while he was still learning his
ABCs so cooking and seasoning food is nothing new for this Texan.
Jerry is a retired military electronic technician having served 25 years in the Navy. He continues to work in his trade in the Atlantic Ocean but schedules plenty of time off to do some fishing and LOTS of cooking. He and his wife, Robin (from Fernandina Beach, FL) decided to purchase a large travel trailer in order to see more of this beautiful sea to shining sea we Americans enjoy.
The couple has acquired a lot of friends here with his im- pressive collection of grills that are usually seeping smoke into the air and giving off some delectable aromas. Al- though cooking comes naturally because of his days spent in the family kitchen, he really got serious about cooking when he was in the Navy and had to fend for himself when it came to preparing meals. And, the more he cooked, he perfected the art and even entered some cooking events back in Texas including the "Doggie Days Event".
On the day I visited for the story he was cooking a Brisket and some Texas Beans. He has more than one grill and prefers to cook almost every meal outdoors with plenty of leftovers to freeze for later. The favorite question when
