On a steep walk up to Bluff Hill Look Out we could see down below in the port vast quantities of wood ready for export, mainly to China. Wriggly tin art adorned the port buildings.
Our membership of Phyllis Court Club in Henley allowed us to enjoy lunch at the prestigious Hawkes Bay Club where a dated elegant interior and barely used Billiard room seemed to be a relic of the past.
