Havelock North lies south of Napier and from the top of nearby Te Mata peak the views are simply stunning with Tukituki River snaking down below.
Hawkes Bay is famous for its fine wines and we visited two vineyards to enjoy some wine tasting. At Craggy Range the impressive entrance and seated area are as inviting as the wines. Whilst at Te Mata Estate, I discovered a unique connection to my volunteering life at Nuffield Place. A fine Bullnose Syrah red wine had been produced by their wine maker, Peter Cowley.
