Arriving in Picton, Alastair was in pole position in the scrum at the Avis car hire office near the ferry terminal. It was to no avail as there were no SUVs to be had and he was allocated a very shiny blue Ford Focus which declined to take two cases in the boot!
It was something of a bone of contention until we could give it up in Christchurch!
