From Busser to Business Owner: Employing and Supporting Refugee Talent in the Restaurant Industry
US Together provides employment services, education, and other support to refugee and immigrant job seekers. The agency has also supported over a dozen food-based refugee entrepreneurs with access to capital and technical assistance, resulting in mutually-beneficial employment partnerships and successful small businesses. This presentation will explore the resettlement and programmatic background to employment and business creation in the restaurant industry and demonstrate ways businesses can partner with US Together to reach eager candidates or support refugees as they launch food-based businesses of their own.
