The Unknown Maternal Grandfather depicted in the yellow box and/or the Unknown Maternal Grandmother depicted in the light orange box could be of non-Irish descent. Thomas' maternal ancestors might have been in America for many generations. This leaves open the possibility of even more mixing from different ethnicities.
So how will we ever fill the six unknown boxes with names?
There is still much research to be done to trace our surname Bryan family beyond Thomas Bryan. I believe that DNA will be the key. Future revelations will occur only with the help of DNA matching, backed, hopefully, by documentation.
