CHAPTER FIVE: THOMAS BRYAN'S PARENTS SO WHAT NOW? WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
I have currently exhausted the paper trail....but not the DNA trail...in my search for Francis' ancestry. But I believe that these two trails are mutually dependent. A paper trail can lead to searches for DNA matches by manipulating ThruLines on Ancestry and other forms of DNA matching. Conversely, a DNA match can lead to a name that has a discoverable paper trail.
We have established that Francis' father is Thomas Bryan and that his mother is Margaret Strode Bryan. What about Thomas Bryan's parentage?
THE BRYAN ANCESTRY MYSTERY CHART: Where to look next!
Clyde Bryan Eldridge reported that Thomas Bryan was from Ireland and the Ingall's Genealogy document (31) mentions that Francis' sister was of Irish descent.
I believe that Thomas was born in America. If he was born in Ireland, I believe he came over as a child and married someone here in America. Why? Because we appear to have DNA matches that are associated with our Bryans that I can not place yet on our tree. I imagine that they might be associated with Thomas' mother. They are not of Irish origin.
On our Mystery Tree we are looking for two patrilineal YDNA Bryan males: Thomas’ father and his paternal grandfather.
Because of our confirmed YDNA relationship to O'Briens in Ireland I am confident that we are Bryan/O'Briens. It is highly probable that the Unknown Paternal Grandmother who married the Unknown Paternal Grandfather was also Irish and also from County Meath. I would estimate that they moved to America around 1690-1700. Thomas Bryan is most likely 100% Irish on his paternal side, depicted with the blue boxes .
Now we turn to the maternal side.
On the maternal side we might find ancestors of non-Irish origin.
