MILANESE WOMEN CINI BOERI 20 / April-May 2020 / ve the dining area from the kitchen, is to allow service staff to discreetly check the progress of the meal - lucky for some, hey! In the living room (above), the walls are painted with four slightly different shades of grey in order to give greater prominence to the alternation of interlocking areas. You can see that the raised dining area is separated from the living room by a low wall on which is a Taccia lamp by Achille Castiglioni. A corridor separates the living room from the sleeping area, which consists of bedrooms for children and parents. ALPINE RESORT During the same period Boeri also designed the interior of an apartment on the top floor of a building located in the prestigious Alpine resort of Cervinia. The space is divided into two apartments; one to be used by a young couple with children that could also accommodate friends for their holidays in the mountains, the other a smaller space designed just for the parents. The first apartment has copper-coloured carpet, red cloth on the walls and uses woollen fabrics. The furniture consists of a combination of plastic furniture and some antique pieces owned by the family. The space is versatile, designed to adapt to the lifestyle typical of mountain holidays. In the large living room there is space to sit on the floor and play games, listen to music, or simply spend time with friends, whilst the long sofa can be transformed into two extra beds. In the dining area there are red plastic tables that can easily be moved or added to according to the number of people. The smaller apartment makes clever use of the narrow mansard roof space, which has a steep sloping section that resembles the hull of an overturned boat, with a central passage. The walls are entirely covered in wood with many built-in wardrobes designed to make the most of all available spaces. www.vintagexplorer.co.uk DESIGN CLASSICS Cini Boeri created many modern Italian design classics; the Monobloc Bobo Lounge chair (1967), the 602 Tube table lamp (1968), the polyurethane Serpentone sofa (1971), sold by the metre (bottom right), and the Lunario table (1971) to name but a few.
