MILANESE WOMEN CINI BOERI 70s APARTMENTS Dating from the early 70s, Boeri designed two apartments in the center of Milan. The first apartment (right) is a small studio flat for an independent and young professional. The very small space requires custom-made furniture in order to make use of every available inch. She chose the fabulous Pipistrello lamp designed by famous Milanese designer Gae Aulenti, which has recently been put back into production. Boeri also chose the Pipistrello lamp for the second apartment (below). The bedroom is also decorated with Boeri’s model 602 Tube lamp, which she designed for Arteluce. This apartment was designed for the lifestyle of the city, a place to meet with friends in a sociable and comfortable environment, with all the essentials at hand. A single large room joins the living and sleeping areas – the space connected by a continuity of colours and materials. The floor is covered in red carpet, and the walls and ceiling painted with a glossy puce-coloured paint, whilst the sofa fabrics are cloth and velvet in complimentary colours of browns and oranges. 22 / April-May / ve www.vintagexplorer.co.uk
