Red anniversary beer with a sweetshop start of sugary sweet fruits with citrus centres. Malt
is elbowed aside by the hops which dominate the tongue tickling bitter end.

Armistice Ale** (E.Sussex) 5.5% Pale /5
Taking inspiration from a 1918 recipe, this rich dark and malty classic is hopped with Kent
grown Goldings and Fuggles hops, providing plenty mouthfeel and a soft bitterness.

Barnsley Pals Ale** Two Roses Brew Co (Barnsley) 5.0% Pale /5
A single hopped beer brewed with a generous proportion of New Zealand Kohatu hops
which bring lovely Tropical fruit, floral & pine needle flavours & aromas.
The Barnsley Pals formed the 13th and 14th Battalions of the York and Lancaster Regiment
during the war. Both regiments were part of the attack on Serre on the first day of the
Somme campaign. In that one day, July 1, 1916, the 1st Barnsley Pals lost 275 men, while
the 2nd lost 270.

Full-bodied oatmeal stout using a combination of seven types of malt, a deeply complex,
rich and moreish beer balanced with the addition of English Challenger hops
When WWI broke out in 1914, a number of new rules and regulations the most important
of which was the Defence of the Realm Act (DORA) were passed to ensure public safety.
A number of British towns and cities had to be subjected to blackouts as the darkness
cloaked them from incoming air raids.

Death or Glory** Tring Brewery (Hertfordshire) 7.2% Dark /5
Dark, aromatic and estery strong ale brewed using the finest Maris Otter malt and premium
aroma hops.
Brewed since 1994, Death or Glory is the motto of the Queen’s Royal Lancers. The 9th,
was a cavalry regiment which served on the Western Front.
Double Maxim Maxim Brewery (Tyne & Wear) 4.7% Copper /5
Now the only original Brown Ale still brewed in the North East of England. It delivers a
mouth of full and rounded flavour that is well balanced and smooth and leaves a pleasant
and lingering slightly sweet aftertaste.
The Maxim machine gun was the first fully automatic machine gun. It was recoil-operated
and was cooled by a water jacket surrounding the barrel. The Maxim was in large part
responsible for the epithet “the machine gun war” for World War I.
