Serum
After clotting and centrifugation, transfer separated serum to a multipurpose vial
pre-labeled with patient's name. Please ensure that the serum is free from
hemolysis and turbidity.
Plasma
Please mention the anticoagulant in which blood was collected to obtain plasma, e.g.
EDTA plasma, Fluoride plasma Fasting or Post Prandial, etc.
Please mention the time of collection
Transfer separated to a multipurpose vial pre-labeled with patient's name.
IMP: Ensure that the plasma is free from hemolysis and turbidity
PLASMA FOR COAGULATION TEST
Blood is collected in a blue top vacutainer (refer to table on
page:16)
Collection of blood should be up to the mark specified on
vacutainer
The recommended proportion of blood to the sodium
citrate anticoagulant volume is 9:1. Inadequate or
overfilling of the tube will compromise this ratio, and may
lead to inaccurate results for calcium-dependent clotting
tests, such as the PT and aPTT.
Maximum Fill
If due to high hematocrit, e.g. (>60%), the volume of Maximum Fill
plasma is low, the anticoagulant effect gets enhanced as a Indicator
result of anticoagulant to plasma ratio. In such situations,
the blood has to be re-collected with a smaller
volume of the anticoagulant as per published guidelines.
2.7ml
Hematocrit correction = 100 — HCT / 595 — HCT for 1 ml Draw
of blood. Tube
13 mm x 75 mm
This plasma must be stored and transported in frozen Full Draw
condition till the time of processing.
