Mary Oliver, an American poet whose works show a deep connection to the natural
world.
Oliver attended Ohio State University and Wasar College but did not receive a degree.
No Voyage and Other Poems (1963). These lyrical nature poems are set in a variety of
locales, especially the Ohio of Oliver’s youth. Her childhood plays a more central role in
The River Styx, Ohio, and Other Poems (1972), in which she attempted to re-create the
past through memory.
Wild geese
In short, 'Wild Geese' is a poem, written by Mary Oliver, that expresses what one must
do in order to lead a good life. The speaker, presumably Oliver, is talking directly to her
reader, imploring them to not worry so much about being good; rather, the reader
should be true to nature and the beauty found in it.
