A beast that can inspire such words from even the most
gallant of men is sure to be untameable, but so is Man. This
beast was no creation of nature, no natural force has the
capability of creating such power, such precision, and such
speed. Man, in his quest to satisfy his unquenchable thirst for
thrill, had created this beast. And every time it showed signs
of surrender, Man had rendered it yet more vicious, more
untameable. This beast is Formula One.
Formula One, the former part of its name designates a ‘set of
rules’ and the latter speaks of its class in the sport of racing.
The first creators of the Formula One Engine had critically
focused on speed, and even with the little technology they
had in the 50’s and the 60’s their Engines would reach the
speeds greater than 290kmph. This made the sport a deadly
deal to take part in. In fact, so deadly was the sport that 12
racers died in mere practice in the first two decades of For-
mula One. Even after these casualities, the spirit for racing did
not decline. It is said that F1 racers make the most stubborn
sportsman, perhaps it is this stubbornness that attracts people
and is the reason for its immense popularity.
