ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW (Policy No. 100-103) Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale Customer Care
Policy No. 100 – Child Care Exemption
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale is not a Department of Health Services licensed childcare facility under section 36-882 of Arizona law. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale has been determined by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Office of Child Care Licensing, to be a program exempt by law. For the Clubs to be exempt from licensing, the school age children participating in its programs must be allowed to come and go at their own volition. Staff may not interfere with any child’s choosing to come or go other than to request that they sign in or out. Staff may not interfere with a child’s leaving, absent emergency circumstances, even if requested by a parent/guardian. Club staff must provide consistent messaging on the organization’s childcare exemption.
Policy No. 101 – Procedure Conflicts with Native Communities
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale operates Club Programming in Native Communities. There may be an instance where the application of guidelines conflicts with the expectations of the operations in Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community, Hualapai Community, or other Native Sites. Boys & Girls Club Policy cannot be changed by staff. Only the CEO can provide instruction on conduct that is in violation of organizational policy.
In the case where the procedures conflict with Native Community procedures (such as facility usage for outside groups which fall under the tribal community policies because they own the Club facilities), the tribal community procedures will be followed. It is the responsibility of the staff working in these tribal communities to communicate to the Chief Operating Officer where these conflicts occur.
