YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES (Policy No. 104-114)

Policy No. 104 – Youth Membership
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale’s mission is to empower youth of all ages and backgrounds to develop the qualities needed to reach their full potential as productive, responsible citizens. Our Clubs help youth develop the skills needed for success in life. Boys & Girls Clubs is a membership organization requiring parent/guardian enrollment of the youth to participate in daily programming. Non-members can visit the Club for public events and are identified as other youth served. Membership is open to school aged youth ages 5 and older (kindergarten through high school).
Policy No. 105 – Membership Applications (Youth & Teen Center)
Membership enrollment documents must be completed for all members. Annual memberships end on June 30 and are renewable on July 1. Additional documentation may be required for summer session as well as sports leagues.
There are two separate membership applications. One application is for youth members ages 12 and under and the other application is for teen center members age 12 who are in 7th grade and up.
Members, age 12, do not have to fill out the 13+ membership when they turn 13. They should fill out the 13+ membership during their next membership renewal time.
Policy No. 106 – Disability Inclusion Policy
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale welcomes all children and is committed to act in a non- discriminatory manner and to make reasonable accommodations to provide equal opportunity and service to individuals with disabilities and other complex needs.
Inclusive Environment
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale staff members in conjunction with the COO will work with families to understand special needs of children seeking accommodation, and to identify modifications necessary to support the disability. Staff will work to integrate individual accommodations as safely and feasibly achievable.
Staff Training and Development
Training and support are provided to ensure that staff members are competent to be aware of and to meet the developmental needs of Club members for which an accommodation is being provided. Club staff will work with parents/guardians to understand specific or individualized needs, and to identify additional support and resources as necessary and/or appropriate and financially feasible.
