Under our Safe Passage Policy:
• Members must scan in and out each day to ensure accurate account of who is on premises.
• Members under the age of 12 must be retrieved from the Club by a parent, guardian or
• another authorized adult.
• Members age 12 and older may leave the club unescorted with written permission from a
parent/guardian and a signed release of liability.
• Members 12 and older may also escort other members of their household from the Club
(with written permission).
• No member, regardless of age, will be allowed to return to the Club once they leave the premises
for the day, except under special circumstances, escorted by parent/guardian and with advance
permission of the Club Director.
• Members that leave unescorted without written permission will face disciplinary actions
up to and including suspension or termination of membership.
Youth will not be physically obstructed from leaving if they desire to leave. Parental/Guardian enforcement of the Safe Passage Policy is necessary. It is the sole responsibility of the parent/guardian to communicate the expectations to their youth and ensure the rule is followed.
Policy No. 110 – Teen Center Visit Policy
To increase teen membership, Clubs may allow a teen visit opportunity prior to paid enrollment. Teen visits require written parent/guardian permission, emergency contact provided, and may not exceed 5 days.
Staff Interaction with Members
Policy No. 111 – One-on-One Contact Policy
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale is committed to providing a safe environment for members, staff, and volunteers. To further ensure their safety, the Organization prohibits all one-on-one interactions between youth and staff/volunteers, including board members.
Staff or Volunteers shall NOT:
• Initiate one-on-one contact with a member.
• Have a private meeting or communication with a member. This includes in-person meetings and
virtual communications such as texting, video chat, and social media.
• Transport one member at a time. This includes personal, private, and Club vehicles.
Staff or Volunteers shall:
• Ensure meetings and communications (in-person and virtual) between members and staff and volunteers include at least three individuals.
• Ensure in-person meetings take place in areas where other staff and/or members are present.
• Communicate to another staff if an emergency arises.
