Employee Professional Development
Policy No. 214 – New Employee Orientation
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale provides a new employee orientation which includes an overview of the agency policies, procedures, and philosophies. All employees must complete New Employee Orientation. Additional trainings are offered throughout the year at the individual branch location, according to role, and through remote learning opportunities. It is the expectation that all employees take responsibility for their continued learning and increase in their competencies and skills.
Policy No. 215 – Staff Training as a Tool of Quality
Lifelong learning is a tool of success. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale supports the continued education and professional development of all staff. It is the expectation that staff participate in ongoing training to learn new skills, remain updated on curriculum, and be aware of best practices in the field. Training will be offered during site meetings, all staff meetings, online, and through conferences. Each staff is responsible for their personal learning journey.
Policy No. 216 – Staff Recognition
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale values its employees. It is important that every team member feel appreciated and valued for their contribution. Verbal acknowledgement from peers and supervisors is critical to creating a team that is both inspired and continuously inspiring. Finding creative, no cost recognition goes a long way. A handwritten thank you note, or card is truly appreciated. Make it a priority to help create a culture of recognition!
There are employee morale-building events celebrated thorough the year with departmental or company gatherings, significant work-related accomplishments, holiday festivities, etc. These types of celebrations, paid with BGCS funds, should be modest in cost and respectful of the funding sources, as well as represent sound business judgment and must be approved by executive management.
It is not appropriate to spend any BGCS funds in recognition of employees for non-work-related achievements or events. This prohibits gifts such as wedding/shower gifts, new baby or baby shower gifts, house-warming gifts, birthday gifts holiday/Christmas gifts.
