Q: How do I sell the print finishes to clients?
From feedback, we have found that a lot of Centres have the best results to sell a print
finish as an up sell to clients. When clients see the scodix, gold or silver finish, they will
want to add it to existing artwork, such as business cards and are prepared to invest in
a high quality product.
Q: Why are we promoting the print finishes?
From our client research we have found that our target market of SMEs want Centres
to provide creative ideas and seek specialists to work collaboratively to meet their
needs. Marketing the different print finishes is a great way to up sell to clients and to
add value to their print jobs as well as showcasing our print expertise and quality.
Q: What is NV Laminate, Scodix, Spot UV and Metal finish?
• New Velvet Laminate (or NV) is a laminated stock that provides a premium matt
finish for your client’s business cards on a 450+ stock weight
• Scodix (NVs) is a print finish that adds a luxury look and feel to ordinary print runs
by producing a raised ink experience. It delivers a beautiful finish and can create
texture
• Metal Finish (NVm) is another raised ink finish that is enhanced yet again with a
gold or silver look. This gives the illusion of a ‘metal finish’
• Spot UV (NVu) is similar to Scodix effects, providing a subtle varnish without the
raised texture
Q: What design features should I use Scodix on?
Scodix can provide an amazing result when highlighting a logo, image or bold type, as
opposed to adding unique gloss texture patterns such as dot, lines or more creative
patterns to achieve a premium result. For the best effects, avoid applying Scodix to
thin lines, small text or finely detailed artwork.
Q: Can I Scodix the whole artwork?
Not advised. Scodix looks best when you follow some basic design fundamentals
where often ‘less can be more’ when adding Scodix to your design.
