justice and change. Before successful teaching can take place teachers need to
acknowledge that learners are human beings. And the learners emotional, social
and physical well-being is just as important inside the classroom as it is outside.
Sunward teachers lack the culture of care and collaboration with learners and
staff. Thus they lose their learners before they have even started teaching.

▪ Lastly, Sunward Park high school is a school that should continue to build parent
teacher partnerships as well as peer partnerships in the classroom and school
environment. There should be an increase in support from all sides of the
spectrum. Students should not be seen as segregated from their community as all
the systems in a child’s life are nested and interdependent (Bronfenbrenner, 1994)
