– “Social Justice” and the Gospel?

Voddie Baucham, Th.D. , an esteemed theologian and
Bible scholar who is respected for his bold teachings of
the unchanging truth of Biblical WORD sets the proper
perspective. He reminds us that in order to say that
“Social Justice” is a Gospel issue, it must be a GOD issue.
“Social Justice” means state redistribution of advantages
and resources to disadvantaged groups in order to
satisfy their right to social and economic equality. Simply
stated, it is redistribution of wealth. As Baucham
explains, this is why this concept is so problematic. It
negates GOD’s real directives. GOD does not require or
expect economic equality; rather, HE demands justice.
Therefore, any true injustice is a sin issue. Thus, anyone
who truly abides in CHRIST must be very concerned by
any true form of injustice. But “Social Justice” is not
about true justice; it is about economic and social
equality for one group at the expense of another. As
faithful Christians, we must always seek to uphold true
justice. Biblical justice is about enabling others to
achieve according to their efforts.
Therefore, what does GOD expect from faithful
Christians regarding this question? HE wants us to carry
out justice, to love faithfulness, and to live obediently,
according to HIS commandments, before HIM.
