 Motor Claims Procedures
10.1.5 The SVR department will assist by completing the required document in terms of their service level agreement (SLA) with the South African Police Services (SAPS) and the Insurance Crime Bureau (ICB).
10.1.6 The SVR team will coordinate and assist with the upliftment process which includes the identification, issue of SAP VIN numbers, micro dotting, police clearance, etc.
10.1.7 The ICB and Hollard Insure have an agreement with the SAPS with regards to the upliftment and release of stolen and recovered vehicles.
10.1.8 Why is the upliftment process important? The process is not complete when the vehicle is released from the pound. The micro dotting and police clearance follow after the upliftment to complete the process. The claimant will not be able to renew his vehicle license when it is due for renewal if the police clearance is not done. The status on E-NaTIS is stolen.
10.1.9 The vehicles for pre-settlement claims are delivered to a Hollard Insure approved panel beater when it is a possible repair or Salvage Management and Disposal (SMD) when it is a possible write-off.
10.1.9.1 The SVR department also assists with requests of settlement documentation and original de/registration certificates from the finance houses.
1.1.1.1.1
1.1.1.1.2
Paid up vehicles:
Once liability has been accepted, please send the original registration certificate and key (if available) to the SVR department.
Д Registration certificate: When the claim is a total loss (declared a write-off) and the vehicle was recovered, the original registration including supporting documentation (NCO Part A completed and signed) must be sent to the SVR department.
Financed vehicles:
The SVR department will assist with the requests below from the finance house:
Д Settlement documentation: Copy of registration certificate and settlementletter.Providethefinancehousenameandaccountnumber to the SVR department via email and settlement documentation will be requested on your behalf.
Д Original deregistration/registration certificate will only be made available once the finance house has been settled. Provide signed agreement of loss and proof of payment made to the finance house to the SVR department via email and the original deregistration/ registration certificate will be requested on your behalf.
10.1.10 The vehicles recovered after claims settlement will be delivered to SMD for disposal.
10.1.11 The SVR department will dealer stock the vehicle in Hollard Insure’s name and supply SMD with the necessary documentation to auction the vehicle.
10.1.12 Why SMD? They have a national footprint with an online auction system. There is no need for tenders and the sales process is transparent. Their online system is easy to use, and it makes provision for the claimant to bid on the vehicle in the comfort of his home or workplace.
10.1.13 What do you get from the SVR department:
If the claimant has already collected the vehicle, the SVR department will confirm that all processes have been completed at the SAPS such as the cancelation of the S-Mark and police clearance, including:
• Instruct an accredited agent to uplift.
• Coordinate the upliftment.
• Deliver the vehicle to the required destination in terms of the condition.
