10.2 There are three ways of being notified of a recovered vehicle and they are as follows:
10.2.1 Notification from an investigating officer (SAPS)
The investigating officer will contact the claimant/Hollard Insure/binder holder about the recovered vehicle.
10.2.2 Notification from an upliftment agent
The upliftment agent will inform Hollard Insure of the recovered vehicle. Hollard Insure will request the upliftment agent to remove the vehicle and take it to the panel beater/salvage contractor. The binder holder is responsible for the upliftment fee and must settle the fees as soon as they receive the invoice.
10.2.3 Notification from other sources
Should we be notified from an alternative source of the recovered vehicle we will notify the binder holder thereof. The same procedure will be followed as in point 10.2.2.
10.3 If the vehicle is recovered before settlement (pre-settlement recovery)
10.3.1 Notify the SVR department at Hollard Insure immediately of the recovered vehicle, unless the notification came from Hollard Insure. Provide a copy of the vehicle registration certificate as required for upliftment purposes.
10.3.2 The upliftment agent will negotiate the release with the investigating officer and complete the police clearance.
10.3.3 The upliftment agent will perform the upliftment and deliver it to the panel beater or salvage yard to be assessed.
10.3.4 The binder holder will appoint a motor assessor to assess the damages.
