 Motor Claims Procedures
10.3.2 The upliftment agent will negotiate the release with the investigating officer and complete the police clearance.
10.3.3 The upliftment agent will perform the upliftment and deliver to the panel beater or salvage yard to be assessed.
10.3.4 The broker will appoint a motor assessor to assess the damages.
10.4 If the vehicle is recovered after settlement (Post-Settlement Recovery)
10.4.1 Notify the SVR Department at Hollard immediately of the recovered vehicle, if the notification did not come from Hollard.
Hollard Stolen and Recovered team will:
10.4.2 appoint an agent to uplift the vehicle.
10.4.3 provide the broker or internal claims handler with more information and the requirements to secure the release and upliftment.
10.4.4 confirm the condition of the vehicle with the agent and make a decision in view of the SAIA code of salvage to uplift the vehicle to the salvage contractor, or forfeit the vehicle to state.
10.4.5 confirm vehicle cancellation and police clearance has been completed.
10.4.6 dealer stock in Hollard's name as a salvage vehicle.
10.4.7 advise Hollard and note in the register if the vehicle is recovered.
Recovered vehicles may be disposed of or stripped only once Hollard has taken lawful possession of the vehicle and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the policy. This means that the salvage contractor can sell the vehicle only once the claim has been paid AND we have provided the salvage contractor with the original cancelled deregistration certificate. If a claim is rejected – advise the insured to uplift the vehicle and also advise the salvage contractor that we are no longer liable for storage.
On a monthly basis, the stolen vehicles register must be submitted to the Hollard Stolen and Recovered team to match the broker records with Hollard ones.
Receipt of monies must be recorded and deposited into Hollard’s Claims account. In the event that a recovered vehicle is salvaged, all conditions as per the salvage contract/s must be adhered to and monitored on a monthly basis by the broker.
