Meet the Regional Chairs:

Adrian Dennehy – Regional Chair for Wales

What is your current Campus Protection Services Manager at Cardiff Metropolitan University –
role and how long have been in place for 10 years this coming December.
         you doing it?

What did you do before Prior to working at the university, I was a soldier. Served in all the usual
your current role? sandy spots around the globe and also was lucky enough to spend some time
in West Africa, the Balkans, USA, Cyprus and Northern Ireland

What is it about The variety. It is often said that no two days are the same for many jobs, but
University Security that I actually think it is genuinely true for ours. In a large organisation we come
you enjoy the most? into contact with many, many different departments and if they need to
speak to us they usually have a problem that they want (us) to solve. The
challenges that poses can give huge highs and lows. Certainly, keeps me on
                                   my toes.

What has been the Locally it has been a genuine pleasure to meet members across the country.
highlight of your time There are times when we can feel quite alone in our jobs; knowing that others
as regional chair so far? are in the same boat is a big help and knowing that my problems are faced
by others not just me is also comforting.

More internationally being fortunate enough to be able to attend two
CAMPROSA conferences. I very much enjoyed my time in South Africa,
especially so as it is a fellow rugby country. The challenges they have to face
are huge and they face them in good heart and with good humour. If anyone
in CAMPROSA is reading this article you will notice that I stole your
terminology for my job title at Cardiff Met when we decided to drop
‘security’ and replace it with something more representative of what we do.
What is your best joke? England’s final line out throw against Wales in the 2015 Rugby World Cup
                                   pool stages.

What is your favourite This is tough. I will cheat and pick a couple of each. Film – ‘Undergound’
Film, Book and Album? (Emir Kusturica) and ‘A Bridge Too Far’ (Richard Attenborough). Song –
Very hard to choose here as I will listen to most things from most countries.
Will go for ‘Too Much Too Young’ (The Specials) and ‘Kalashnikov’ (Goran
Bregovic). Book – ‘The Bridge over the Drina’ (Ivo Andric) and ‘A Drinking
                                   Life’ (Pete Hamill).

Who would be your Spike Milligan, Joan Rivers, Jonny Wilkinson, Boudicca, Alexei Sayle, Nina
Dream Dinner Guests? Simone, Richard Harris, Aneurin Bevan, Betsi Cadwaladr, Richard Pryor,
Doddie Weir and Lilly Allen…… We are gonna need a bigger table…..
