THE HUMAN SKELETON
Overview
The human skeleton (figure 2)consists of more than 200 bones, as well as
cartilage, belongs to the musculoskeletal system, in which, unlike muscles, it
performs a passive role.
The main functions of the skeleton are support and protection.
There are departments:
-the skeleton of the head (skull),
-the axial skeleton (the skeleton of the trunk – the spine and chest),
-the skeleton of the limbs (each consists of a skeleton of a free limb and a skeleton
of a limb belt).
