New Beginnings Start Now

This is a special year. A year filled with new beginnings. The world
welcomes the arrival of a new millenium. The Society of the Sacred
Heart celebrates the 200th anniversay of its founding. Carrollton re­
joices in welcoming a new age that not only signifies a renewal of purpose
for the Society but for Carrollton as well.
Just as Madeleine Sophie broke new grounds 200 years ago with the
founding of the Society of the Sacred Heart, this year Carrollton breaks
new grounds with an expanded vision for the new millenium. This vision
of the future includes new parking gardens, a new gym, new science and
art classrooms, a new auditorium, and new technology offerings. This
year, the construction within the Barat Campus and the introduction of
laptops in the Junior High begin the first step in realizing this vision.
What remains at the heart of it all, however, is the reaffirmation of
Saint Madeleine Sophie’s aspirations for young women. Consequently,
students themselves experience their own beginnings as they go from
grade to grade. Each student starts a new phase in her life with the
beginning of every school year, experiencing years filled with excitement,
learning, and spiritual significance. From Montessori through High
School, students come back to friends and teachers, and prepare them­
selves for. the new experiences ahead. By the time they are seniors, they
can face the future confidently living by the five Sacred Heart goals —
faith, knowledge, service, community, and personal growth.
