The fifth graders had their annual Colonial Vil
lage, hosted by Mrs. Styrsky. The Colonial Village was
the conclusion of their study of the original thirteen
colonies. Each girl was assigned a partner and a job,
and together the two decided what characterized their
professions and chose materials that would portray that.
The students also had to create costumes to accurately
play their characters.
The Colonial Village was displayed for the rest of
the Intermediate students and teachers. While the fourth
graders gathered new information about the colonies, the
sixth graders were able to reflect back on when they did
the project and see what was done differently. With much
preparation, the fifth graders were able to display their
knowledge and creativity. It was a pleasurable event for
all who were involved!
