The goal of the Fairchild Tropical Challenge is to increase l
awareness, scholarship, and stewardship regarding environmental
issues. All participating students would agree that this goal has
been met. Carrollton High School received the 2008 Fairchild
Challenge Runner-Up Award earned by the 16 top-scoring schools.
The school received $250 as part of the award to be used in next
year's environmental activities.
More than half the high school body participated in one way or
another. Cristy Arazoza received Honorable Mention for her
participation in "Environmental Debate," Christiana Rosales
received Honorable Mention for her research paper on "Who
Killed the Electric Car," Natalia Juncadella and Monica Alarcon
received Honorable Mention for their artwork on "The Patterns
ot Plants." Other options in which the High School participated
includ "Water in Words," "Plant and Paper Hats Fashion
Show," "T-Shirt Designs," "Pine Rockland Logo Design,s" and
an "Environmental Immersion Day." Thanks must also be given
to participating faculty: Cordana Tepevac, Zena Rodriguez,
Gloria Sanchez, Alan Crockwell, Pat Weisen, Helen Webster and
Claudette Banciella.
