The Arts
At Carrollton we are ultimately after educating
the soul and no soul is fully developed
without beauty and the arts.
Suzanne Cooke, RSCJ
An advocate of the arts, Sister Cooke has su pported the
expansion of the Visual an d Performing Arts program s
at Carrollton. She encouraged the creation of state-
of-the-art facilities for dance, music and the visual arts.
The school enjoys two spaces: dedicated to the display
of student art work, the Taylor Hall Art Gallery on the
Duchesne campus and The Jay Weiss Gallery in the
Barry Building.
Carrollton now has an extensive choral and instrumental
program. Beginning with violin lessons in the Montessori
level, woodwinds, strings and choral instruction are
available to all students through the High School level.
Numerous performances take place throughout the school
year, showcasing the students' talents.
The introduction of the International Baccalaureate Arts
program has given students: the opportunity to focus on
the visual arts, music, dance, and theater. Through this
program, Sister Cooke was able to make advancements
in the sciences and the arts simultaneously, believing
that “holistic liberal arts helps you pursue the things you
love." Sister Cooke's legacy specific to the arts continues
beyond her tenure through the construction of a new
convocation center, which will be completed in
March 2017.
