Outward Bound is a four-day sur
vival trip, where a group of girls place
themselves in their outermost limits
in order to endure the adventure.
Here at Carrollton, the girls are given
the opportunity to take this excursion
and leam a little bit more about their
surroundings and themselves.
During this trip, one is stripped of
everything but the bare necessities
needed to continue. Shortly after
arriving at the Everglades, the group
is divided into two different "crews”.
Then, the crews are given directions
and given a brief overview of what is
going to occur within the next few
days. Giving the groups a list of the
specific things they are allowed to
pack into the canoes, the leaders
check the waterproof sacks to make
sure that only the necessities are
being taken. After, the “crews”, are off
into their adventure, wondering what
is going to happen next. Although it
seems like the worst experience ever,
the students come back changed,
having different ideals and percep
tions of life.
As sophomores, a group of the cur
rent seniors, went on Outward Bound
in the winter of 1996. They were, as
Mrs. Crain likes to call the, “The Pio
neer”, because they wee introduced
into this experience,having very little
to no expectations. And even though,
there were many obstacles to sur
pass, the students had a wonderful
time that bonded them together.
